The
80s were known for a huge explosion of dance oriented music inundating
the media. TV shows like St. Elsewhere & Hill Street Blues were at the top
of the Nielsens & the music was fresh & current. Artists like Stacey
Q were at the top of the radio charts, while Bardeux & Candyman ruled the
club scene. (Click here
for detailed bio...)
Our May 5th guest , Jon St James, was right in the middle of it all, producing all the music, handling all the artists, & being an essential part of the soundtrack of the decade. The 90s found him returning to the heart of the music, beyond just great grooves to great songs, where hes still picking & choosing projects & artists he enjoys, adding his touch to shows like Dawson's creek & hit movies, while his gold & platinum awards reflect rainbows on the walls of his office.
Jon is one of the best examples of doing it yourself, starting with a great band, building a home studio, building a following, aligning with a label, keeping the momentum when that label goes belly-up, working the alternatives, creating a series of successful imprints, developing other artists, & making a living in spite of the politics & volatility of this industry. Hell be sharing some of those stories, how he did it, how the industry has changed, tips for making it happen for yourself, & what he looks for in artists he works with.

Hes done it all, & works
with some of the BEST songwriters in the world.
But he hasnt heard YOU
yet!
